Shungiku Chrysanthemum
Certified Organic
Chrysanthemum coronarium
Versatile plant for culinary and decorative purposes.
Commonly used in Asian cuisine, the delectable young buds, leaves, and stems of this chrysanthemum add a distinctive flavor to a variety of dishes. The aromatic, herby leaves can be used for pickling, stir fries, rice dishes, hot pots, and more. The abundant yellow flowers brew a delicious, golden tea. Continuously pinch back for a bushy plant. A wonderful edition to an edible landscaping plan.
This variety is part of our Shumei Natural Agriculture Collection. Its growers are part of the global Shumei community and farm using Natural Agriculture practices. They shared seeds with us, which were then grown by our Shumei farmer-in-residence, Kenny Nakagawa.
