Narcissus 'Tete a Tete'

A prolific, early-blooming miniature heirloom that naturalizes beautifully and produces multiple bright yellow flowers per stem.

Registered before 1949 by breeder Alec Gray, 'Tête-à-Tête' has earned its place as one of the most beloved miniature daffodils in horticultural history. This early-blooming variety belongs to the Cyclamineus division and is prized for its reliability, often serving as one of the first dependable signs of life in the April landscape. Its name—French for a private conversation—alludes to the way its bright yellow blooms cluster together, with each bulb sending up multiple stems that hold as many as three flowers each. The blossoms are notable for their reflexed, buttercup-colored petals that sweep back from a central, egg-yolk yellow cup, giving the plant a distinctively perky and energetic appearance.

Standing just six to ten inches tall, this diminutive narcissus is a versatile addition to rock gardens, container displays, or the front edges of a perennial border. These bulbs are exceptional naturalizers, settling into well-drained soil and multiplying over time to create expansive, golden drifts that require very little maintenance. Because they are naturally unappealing to hungry deer and voles, they are a safe and sturdy choice for rural landscapes and naturalized meadows alike. Whether you choose to force them in pots for an indoor winter treat or enjoy them as a hardy garden staple, 'Tête-à-Tête' delivers a consistent, cheering performance year after year.

Growing instructions
Narcissi do best in full sun to partial shade. Pink varieties in particular retain their color best in areas partially shaded from the hot afternoon sun. They require a well-drained soil, and should be watered regularly after planting in the fall to ensure good root growth before the ground freezes.
Narcissi bulbs should be planted 3 times as deep as the diameter of the bulb.
