Connecticut Field Pumpkin
Curcurbita Pepo
Certified Organic
Ornamental pumpkins signal fall; great for carving.
We love multi-purpose plants. This pumpkin is edible and ornamental. Pick when 10-12 pounds. Scoop out orange innards and save for making pies. Use the remaining hollow shell to carve something creative. These pumpkins are rumored to have been bred to be the size of a human head. Send us your Jack O' Lantern stories and photos!
Growing instructions
Direct sow after frost, or start indoors 2-3 weeks earlier. Transplant in hills spaced 6' apart, 3 plants per hill, or in rows 36" apart. Plants can grow 6' or more, so give plenty of space to take over. Mulch early to help suppress weeds. Cure in a dry, warm place for a week or so, then store in a cool, dry, dark place.
