Ruby Red Orach
Certified Organic
Atriplex hortensis
Vibrant magenta leaves make an excellent alternative to spinach.
Grown as part of an edible landscaping plan, this gorgeous and mild-tasting green can be eaten raw or cooked as an alternative to spinach. Sauté Orach's vibrant magenta leaves with butter and garlic, liven up soups and pasta dishes, or brighten salads. Does well in containers or densely sowed for vibrantly-hued microgreens. Continuously pinch back the mature plant for heavier production of tender, arrow-shaped leaves.

Orach likes well drained soil and is heat and cold tolerant so can be seeded from early spring to mid summer. Direct sow as Orach does not like to be transplanted. Broadcast seeds in a well cultivated garden patch, or seed in rows 10" apart and thin seedlings to 6". Sow in successions for a steady crop.
