Feher Ozon Paprika

Capsicum annuum

Certified Organic

Traditional for paprika powder, but a lovely sweet pepper, too.

Known globally as a powder, sweet paprika starts as a fresh pepper. This Hungarian variety produces loads upon loads of pale yellow, blocky, tapered peppers on very small plants. Peppers slowly ripen to a peachy red. Though the plants are small, the amount of fruit can weigh them down and break the main stem, so staking is recommended. This pepper is quite sweet and can also be used as any sweet pepper: raw, roasted or sautéed. A staff favorite this year.

Growing instructions
Start indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost in very warm spot (80 degrees is ideal). Keep seedlings in a well-ventilated place at 70+ degrees and do not over water. Transplant outdoors in full sun into rich, well drained soil after threat of frost has passed. Peppers can tolerate dryness and heat, but need moderate water to produce fruit and prefer to be watered at the base. To dry: let peppers ripen as much as you can on the plant. In humid climates, dehydrators are recommend. Slice and removes the seeds, then place in dehydrator at recommended setting until completely dry and crisp. Grind in a spice grinder or food processor for homemade sweet paprika powder.
